BIG NEWS!!!

me and doug

Dear Parents

We have wonderful news that we are so excited to share with you!  As you know, we have spent the last three months searching for an Associate Director for our high school ministry.  We have been looking for someone who is gifted in building relationships with students, has a passion for studying and teaching God’s Word, and is the right fit for the personality of our students and staff.  We could not be happier to announce to you that we have hired Doug Brown as our new High School Associate Director.

Doug is currently a member of Calvary Church and actually grew up through all of our children and student ministries.  He has served as an intern in our college ministry and has spent the last year working in the Worship Center as the Visual Arts Coordinator.  His job has been to help strategically and creatively plan all of our Elevation services from set design to response stations.  However, Doug’s heart has always been in student ministries.  He not only loves high school students, but he loves OUR high school students.  Before he knew that Ryan was leaving, Doug made his move into high school ministry as a volunteer.  He has spent the summer building relationships with our guys and has already earned so much respect among the students and staff.

We interviewed a number of applicants with various qualifications and backgrounds, but Doug stood out as the absolute best choice.  His unique personality, heart for Jesus, creativity, and giftedness is EXACTLY what we have been looking for.  Thank you so much for your constant prayer and support.  This is an exciting time for our high school ministry and we look forward to an incredible year.  Please come get to know Doug at any of our high school services or at our parent meeting on September 13!

Sincerely,

Josh Simpson and Melissa Brosch

ROMP 09

Romp staff

I cannot begin to tell you how blown away I am at what God did through ROMP this year!  The speaker Ryan Klement did an amazing job of leading us in togetherness.  We focused on John 17 and 1 Corinthians 12. After looking at Christ’s prayer for our oneness and the beautiful diversity that is the body of Christ, we were challenged with the question….”Is our church really being the church to each other so we can be the church to the world?”

This led our students in some of the most honest, vulnerable and gut level interactions I have seen at EDL….ever.  God has been so unbelievably good to us.  Please keep praying that the God’s Spirit would continue moving and unifying us so that the world may see Jesus through our love.

So much thanks to all of the parents that poured ridiculous amounts of energy, time and resources into this trip!  This trip would NEVER have happened without you!

Check out some amazing pictures…HERE!

HUUMMEEE!!!!!

July 28, 2009 · 1 Comment

humeThis post is difficult for me because I seriously have no words! (Yes..this is a surprise to me too)! God has been sooo good to our high school group!  So here is what happened….

God moved.  Students became united. Our senior “boys and girls” decided to become MEN and WOMEN who pursue Christ.  Students whose hearts were hard have become soft.  We have been called out to shine for Jesus. We worshiped together as a high school group from the bottom of our hearts.  We are a family.  There is so much love in this family it is ridiculous.

I have never been more honored to be apart of this high school group and apart of this church.  God is so good.  Thank you so much for your prayers and the blood, sweat and tears it took to pay for these students to get to camp.

Dear Lord,

You amaze me.  Please keep transforming our students and causing your light to shine through them  in such a way that people may see their good works  so YOU get the glory!   Amen.

Hey Parents!

I just wanted to let you know that I am leaving Sunday night (June 28th) for Zambia for 2 weeks!!! Cory and I are going with our family and will be doing a little bit of missions and a lot of vacation.  We are out of our minds excited!  I am FULLY confident that Blake and Randy will keep everything running smoothly while I’m gone!  I will miss you and the students a ton :)   Pray for us as we minister to students at Northrise University in Zambia and that I don’t die trying to pet a hippo on safari!

See you on July 15th!

Keepin’ it Classy

reySwimwear

Summer + hot weather = bathing suits!  This is not much of an issue for the guys in our group, but summer bathing suits for many girls is often considered a crisis situation!

At Calvary we have a one piece swimsuit/no speedo policy.  We seek to keep modesty a priority as we try to “spur one another on towards love and good deeds”.    I want you parents to know that I appreciate all of your efforts in helping us uphold this guideline in our group!  I can’t imagine the hours spent shopping and shopping for the right one piece that doesn’t cut to high, scoop too low, or squeeze in all of the wrong places.

A friend showed me this website the other day and I wanted to give you a heads up.  It is full of cute/modest one piece bathing suits that will help your daughter be both fashionable and classy all at the same time.  Modesty doesn’t mean ugly!  So enjoy…hope it helps you in your pursuit of summer bathing suits!
