November 2nd highlights

Melissa taught this morning out of 1 John 4, focusing primarily on the first six verses.

She focused on the “spirit” of our culture’s taglines, mottos, and slogans. Our LifeGroups met together to talk about some of the specific slogans, and how they match up with the truth of God’s word.

The half-truths and empty promises of this world have permeated mainstream teenage culture. Our students are bombarded with the messages of false prophets each and every day. The American Dream with its myth of redemptive violence, the popularity ladder, the latest styles, the “Everybody is doing it!” claims, the “winning is everything” coaches… it has to be EXHAUSTING for these kids!

We encouraged them to think critically, to remain sharp, and to test the spirits of each and every truth claim that comes their way.
